For the love of Pete, someone find me a new Christmas decoration box
Years and years ago when we were a family of 4 living in Drayton Valley Alberta, we received a Christmas parcel in the box pictured below:
At the time it was the perfect sized box to fit the Christmas decorations and they got packed into it with the Christmas take down on New Year's Day. Years went by and the box was continued to be used. Last year I pulled the decorations out of storage at Christmas and for the first time it really irritated me that I was still storing my things in that box. Not because I yearned for days gone by of course, I was irritated because I was over it and had moved on and it felt like the claws of my old life trying to grab at my newfound happiness. (Seriously, I know its a box but it felt like all sorts of symbolism, trust me.)
2016 Note to self was: find a new box for the damn Christmas decorations!
In May of this year, the kids and I moved from my brother's house into our own house and while unloading the moving truck with my BFF and my boyfriend, the damn box resurfaced!
"DUDE, YOU NEED TO GET A NEW BOX FOR YOUR CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS!!" BFF said in exasperation. Dude, I know!
On Sunday we set down to the business of decorating the tree and there it was. The Box. I proceeded to unload everything onto the coffee table and kicked the box's ass out the back door to the burn pile. F*ck that shit! I don't need that kind of negativity in my life.
Look at that tree! That right there is a thing of beauty! And all its beauty will be getting packed up in a crispy new unaddressed United Van Lines box on New Year's Day and that's the end of the story!
